01.08The events on Chuai station
The alternate reality stuff that is coming out for Cloverfield is amazing. What fun. For anyone who hasn’t been playing along at home here’s a quick start:
- Chuai station seems to be the origin
- Chuai station is owned by a Japanese company named Tagruato
- Tagruato does a lot of deep sea drilling for… stuff
- Tagruato is the parent company of Slusho, a Japanese ‘happy-drink’ that seems like an Icee/slushpuppy
- Slusho drinks have a ’special ingredient’ known as ‘deep sea nectar’ and it’s this ’special ingredient’ that is what makes them so good you can’t drink just six
- ‘Deep Sea Nectar’ would seem to come from… the deep sea… ala the drilling platforms that Tagruato has spread all over the Globe.
- Chuai station was the latest station to be built, coming on line last September
- There seems to be an Anti-Tagruato eco-terrorist group known as T.I.D.O. Wave who think Tagruato have been raping the planet and are actively trying to disrupt the company.
- jamieandteddy.com (password: jllovesth ) is a site with video diary entries from one of the character’s ex-girlfriend. He gave her a gift that he said not to open until Dec 10th (2007).
Links to the youtube versions of the videos (1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 ) - The gift had a Tagruato corp ball cap, a zip lock bag with a foil wrapped substance labeled “Primary Evidence, Freeze ASAP, Jamie Don’t eat this” and a tape recorder with a taped message for her….
- FYI: temperature at the bottom of the sea (not near a geothermal vent) is about 39degrees F
- There have been photos that have been released at the site www.1-18-08.com one of them has japanese chef showing off some dish and on the back (in Japanese) is the recipe calling for a pinch of the “Deep Sea Nectar” and it stresses that the dish is to be served cold
- Then there is the video above, and similar news reports in Russian, Spanish, and Japanese.
- If you look in the video it looks like some black hooded special ops types are there with the obligatory red laser sighted firearms
- There also seems to be only one person in the “cell phone camera” video who’s face you get a good look at, and they don’t look asian. (Actually looks like Kevin Rose to me.)
- There has been someone calling themselves “The Whistle Blower” who has been sending out clues that something isn’t right at Chuai Station
- The Whistle Blower has even released sonar images from the station #1 #2
- One of the trailers for the movie shows a female character not looking well and some military doctors shouting “We’ve got a bite! We gotta bite!”
- In Jamie’s latest video (#8) she opens the ‘evidence’ and eats a bit of it (brilliant lil’ bint idn’t she?) and it seems to have some odd effect on her she says she feels great and is going out.
Jamie, listen to me, alright this is not a joke. If you’re hearing this before we’ve spoken, then it means that I’ve been captured by the company called Tagruato. Ok, TAG-RU-ATO. Now listen. You, this is important. Don’t call the authorities. It’ll screw everything up. Just sit tight and wait to hear from Randy. He knows to call you. We’re on their station ok, and it’s like they’ve found something, or they’re making something, but the point is, I can’t, I’m not going to be calling you again. You’re not gonna hear from me again. I just want you to wait for Randy.. he will explain *she stops the tape*
The patterns and connections start to come together and one thing about the substance holds true, cold. It’s served in an ice slush drink, the recipe on the photo remarks about chilling and serving it cold, the ‘evidence’ was tagged freeze ASAP, and the bottom of the ocean is a cold place.
I can’t wait to see this movie.

Wow. This is a great collection! I hadn’t seen the Jamie and Teddy videos! (She seems like a keeper!) I totally didn’t know what to expect when she ate that crap.
I hope this movie lives up to the hype. (Wow, Abrams is good at this stuff!)
