The new bill finally came and sure enough the fees went up a couple bucks. As soon as I saw this I fired off this email reply to the eCare email:

As you can see from my records and the attached images of my last two bills the surcharges and fees on my account have increased.

As established in your previous email this shows that my account is eligible
for a waiver of the Early Termination Fee. As I stated in my initial email I
want to transfer my phone numbers to another carrier and cancel my account
with Sprint with no Early Termination Fee.

Less than 15 minutes later I got this reply:

I did notice your account has been impacted by this. To compensate the increase in taxes, I can offer you 10% discount on the monthly charges. Please write back to me how you wish to proceed.

However, if you still wish to port out your number and cancel the services, please contact the new service provider to whom you wish to switch your services.

The new service provide will check whether your current phone number is portable or not and if portable, initiate the port-out process. Once this port-out process is completed, your services with Sprint will be automatically cancelled and will be activated with the new service provider.

Once the services on your account are canceled, please write back to me; I will waive the early termination fee.

We are disappointed to loose you as a customer.

I’ve switched us over to Verizon and we’re happy to leave all the drama of Sprint behind. Going into the Verizon store last night I think I freaked the sales guy out. He asked what I was looking for and I rattled off the four phones I wanted, their models, colors, and what plan I was going for. He blinked a few times and then smiled. “Great!” The wife and I are now setup with green and orange LG EnVs respectively. I really like these phones and I may do a little review once I’ve had mine for a week or so.
