iPhone Roadmap

iphone.jpgThe corporate features that are listed are really big. This is a very serious change in the iPhone path. By offering these features Apple is really shouting to the world “We’re serious about this shit!”. Up to this point all of the killer apps in the iPhone have been consumer focused movies, music, photos, etc. With all the things they are adding to the iPhone in regard to Exchange integration Apple has set their sights squarely on RIM and the ‘Crack Berries’ crowd. With the stickiness of the iPhone user experience and the dependence users have on their ‘Crack Berries” iPhone will dominate the executive market. If you think about it, executives and corporations have the money to turbo charge the adoption of a device.

There may be a fantastic side effect of this iPhone enterprise focus. Mac computers in the enterprise. When high powered executives go from a RIM device to an iPhone they will want more. The iPhone will be a gateway drug that will get them wanting more of that experience. Users will start to look at their desktop OS with a more critical eye. ‘Why can’t my PC work as well as my iPhone?’ Well guess what? It can.
